1615 NDFB cadres lay down arms in Guwahati

A total of 1615 cadres of three factions of the National De-mocratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) have laid down their arms at the arms laydown ceremony held in Guwahati on Thursday.
The cadres of NBFB-S, NDFB-P and NDFB-R factions laid down their arms following the signing of the historic Bodo Peace Accord with the Centre in New Delhi.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Finance and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, BTC Chief Hag-rama Mohilary and other dignitaries were present at the auditorium of the Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) to attend the historic day, wherein 1615 cadres were surrendering in order to bring in peace and development in the Bodoland area of Assam.
A total of 178 arms and 4803 ammunitions were reportedly laid down in the ceremony. Fourteen grenades, along with arms and ammunitions were also laid by 836 cadres of NDFB-P, 579 cadres of NDFB-RD and 200 cadres of NDFB-S.
Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to Twitter and posted, “Glad to announce the #ArmsLayingCeremony by members of the #NDFB groups today at Guwahati.
