AIZAWL, Oct 11 : The issue of the Tripura-Mizoram boundary dispute has come in the news again with the Mizoram Government objec-ting to activities at the disputed area at Thaidawr Tlang near Phuldungsei village in Mamit district of Mizoram.
The Mizoram Government also alleged that there is a proposal from a certain community to construct a temple in the disputed area in the Mizoram-Tripura border.  It can be mentioned that Tripura and Mizoram share a 66 km inter-State boundary.
The Mizoram Home Department wrote a letter to its counterpart in Tripura a few days ago asking the latter not to construct anything in the disputed area. The letter expressed that a law and order issue can crop up if precaution is not taken.
The letter of the Mizoram Home Department said, “A report has been received by the Mizoram Govt that Songrongma of Tripura, a local indigenous organisation, is attempting to con- struct a temple at the disputed interstate border vil- lage near Phuldungsei at Thaidawr Tlang in Mamit district”.  The Mizoram Home Dept then said it had requested the Survey of India to facilitate a joint spot verification involving both the Mizoram and Tripura Govts to resolve the dispute.
