Coronavirus curve flattens for the first time in Assam: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Stating that the coronavirus curve in the state is flattening in the state for the first time, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said that the first lot of vaccines is expected to arrive sometime between January and July next year.
“The positivity rate in September shot up to 8 per cent, which has fallen to 3.5 per cent now. This shows that the coronavirus curve is gradually flattening in the state,” Sarma said.
“This is for the first time that we have seen flattening of the pandemic’s curve. If we manage to keep the rate of infection low during Durga Puja, it will help us gain control over the spread of the virus to a large extent,” the minister further said.
He further informed that 1,00,000 tests were conducted on Monday and the positivity rate fell to 1.4 per cent.
Further, the minister urged the people to adhere to the COVID-19 protocols during the Durga Puja celebrations and said that if the protocols are followed diligently then the flat curve could be well maintained.
The minister further informed that the doubling rate has also slowed down to 46 days and till date, nearly 40 lakh samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the state.
He also informed that the COVID-19 recovery rate has also shot up to 85 per cent.
