India's Covid recovery rate now 90%

About 90 per cent of Covid patients have recovered in India so far, the Health Ministry said this morning, adding that the country has logged over 78.64 lakh cases since the beginning of the pandemic. In the last 24 hours, the country reported 50,129 new infections; 578 deaths in a day have pushed the total Covid-linked fatalities to 1,18,534. India is the second worst-hit country in the world by the pandemic after the United States. The country reported its first case on January 30.

The number of coronavirus cases has seen a daily dip with October 25 reporting 50,129 cases in comparison to 55,772 a week ago.
About 61 per cent of the total recovered cases from COVID-19 are from six States and UTs of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday.
Maharashtra, India's worst COVID-19-affected State, added 6,417 new cases, with the total number of infected people reaching 16,38, 961. The State also reported 137 deaths, which took the fatality count to 43,152.
The National capital on Saturday recorded 4,116 fresh COVID-19 cases, the highest single-day spike in 35 days, while the death count from the disease mounted to 6,225, according to Delhi Government. This is the second consecutive day when over 4,000 cases were recorded in the city.
