As a part of its ongoing COVID-19 awareness campaign, Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) in collaboration with Ningel Village Authority and Thoubal District United Women’s Development Organization (Thoubal Ima) conducted an awareness programme at Ningel Community Hall, Thoubal District today.
The programme was attended by Hijam Priyokumar, president, CADA; Moirangthem Shyamkanhai, senior citizen and Ahanthem Ahanbi, secreatry, Ningel Apunba Meira Paibi Lup as presidium members.
Dipanjit Ningthoujam, vice president,CADA and Maisnam (o) Manglembi, secretary publicity, Thoubal Ima spoke at the programme as resource persons.
Speaking at the programme, Manglembi said that she had been infected with the virus and stayed at the Covid care centre. But during those days it was just the beginning and only a few people were infected so they were taken good care.
However, now-a-days the number of infected persons have reached a certain level that the Government is unable to handle it properly, which is very unfortunate.
She appealed the people to strictly follow the Covid prevention measures like wearing face mask, maintaining physical distance of 6 feet and washing hands frequently.
CADA president Hijam Priyokumar said the State is facing two diseases one is COVID-19 and the other one is the old issue of drug menace and alcoholism.
He said the adage “health is wealth” is even more relevant in today’s COVID-19 situation.
It is important for our well-being that we eat good food and stay away from intoxicants, he added.
The CADA volunteers distributed face mask and demonstrated the proper way of wearing a face mask to the people who attended the programme.
