MLA summoned

IMPHAL, Oct 27: Session Judge Imphal East Maibam Manojkumar today directed K Meghachandra, MLA Wangkhem Assembly Constituency to appear before the Special Court of (MP/MLAs) Number 1 on November 6.
The Court was hearing a case against MLA K Meghachandra for allegedly threatening a police Constable on election duty.
The MLA had allegedly threatened the police Constable during the Lok Sabha election (Inner Manipur) on April 18 last year at Nongpok Keithelmanbi Primary School. An alleged video of the incident had also gone viral.
The MLA was charged under Section 353/ 506/34 IPC and Section 3(1) of SC/ ST prevention of Atrocities Act 1989 and police had submitted a report of the investigation for trial before the Court in the second week of September.
Earlier, the same Court had rejected and dismissed an anticipatory bail application filed by K Meghachandra in connection with the case.
