WCM distributes face masks

Women Centre, Manipur today distributed N95 masks to the needy and those delivering essential services in Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts.
The masks were donated by Control Print Mumbai under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Women Centre members Ninglun Hanghal and Mangnu distributed the masks to vegetable vending women at Nute Bazar, bus and auto drivers at the New Bazaar bus station and nearby Winger service stand, said a statement of the Women Centre.
Hanghal later contributed masks to our Corona Warriors, the paramedics at the Churachandpur District Hospital, it said.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the hospital, Dr VC Pau also thanked Hanghal for the contribution. During the meeting the CMO also apprised her that they were doing their best although the situation was bad, it said.
Later the centre members also called on the DC Churachandpur, Pawan Yadav and DC Pherzawl, Mannuamching to contribute masks for essential workers who are working  tirelessly during the pandemic, it said.
Hanghal also met Churachandpur SP, Amrita Sinha and contributed masks for the men and women in uniform who are being in the frontline in the fight against COVID-19.
The statement also quoted Hanghal as saying, "According to sources, Manipur is projected to reach 5750 coronavirus cases by November 15, so it is important to intervene at this point to stall the surge of the virus."
"The Women Centre is committed to serve during the pandemic," she continued.
The centre was set up in 2016 with an aim of  empowering women economically. Till date the centre has imparted skill development training, conducted immunization camps and spread awareness on availing Government schemes for the poor, the statement said.
The Centre is further planning to come out with creative solutions to economic and health issues amid the pandemic, it continued.
