AMWDCS&ULA demands honoraria for labourers

Kakching, Oct 28: All Manipur Ward Development Committee Skilled & Unskilled Labours Association (AMWDCS&ULA) began its cease work strike from today at Kakching, Thoubal, Jiribam and Bishnupur districts.
The association had on October 21 last demanded the State Government to release the 15-16 months pending honorarium for labourers of Ward Development Committee (WDC) working under different Municipal Councils on or before October 27.
As part of the protest, skilled and unskilled labourers of WDC, Kakching Municipal Council staged a sit protest in front of the Council, today.
Speaking to media persons, one of the protestors said that they launched the agitation as the Government had not given any positive response for their demand.
We are finding it too hard to meet the living cost and to look after families as we haven't been given an honorarium for many months, he added.
He also cautioned that the association will launch more agitations if the Government continues to ignore their demand.
A similar protest was also staged in front of Thoubal Municipal Council, Nambol Municipal Council, Moirang Municipal Council and at Jiribam today, demanding the Government to release the pending honoraria for labourers at the earliest.
