IMPHAL, Oct 27: For the third time during the current month, the State recorded six deaths due to COVID-19 during the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, daily COVID-19 tests at JNIMS and RIMS have started declining.
According to a press release issued by IDSP, 2727  COVID-19 tests including RT-PCR, TrueNat and RAT were done today at RIMS, JNIMS, different district headquarters, private hospitals and laboratories till 4 pm. Yesterday too the total number of COVID-19 test was only 1944 while on October 25 the number of tests conducted was 1825. Significantly, RIMS and JNIMS have the capacity to conduct more than 3000 tests (RT-PCR) per day.
Only 64 samples were tested today at JNIMS and four were found positive while at RIMS the number of tests conducted was just 151.
One official Health Department informed that the State Government has issued supply order for COVID-19 testing kits after ICMR stopped supplying the same kits.
Meanwhile, two officials sent by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to make assessment of COVID-19 situation in the State arrived here today.
Soon after their arrival, Directorate General of Health Services Additional Director Dr L Swasticharan and NITRD Associate Professor Dr Ashish Ranjan held a meeting with officials of the Health Department and reviewed how the State Government has been tackling the pandemic since the first case was detected in the State.
The duo visited RIMS today and they would visit JNIMS tomorrow.
They would be joined by Ministry of Power, Joint Secretary VK Dewangan after he lands here tomorrow afternoon.
A press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, said six COVID-19 positive individuals (three males, three females) including one under home isolation died during the last 24 hours at RIMS, Shija Hospital, Churachandpur district hospital and JNIMS.
Three of them aged 63 (male), 67 (male) and 76 (female) were residents of Imphal West. Another victim belonged to Kangpokpi and she was 49 years old.
The other two victims aged 27 (female) and 65 (male) were residents of Churachandpur district. The 27-year old woman was under home isolation.
On the other hand, 180 people were tested positive for COVID-19 during the last 24 hours at RIMS, JNIMS, Imphal West, Imphal East, Imphal Hospital, Noney, Chandel, Maipakpi Hospital, Tengnoupal, Mothers Care, Raj Medicity, RD Wing, Samaritan Hospital, Sky Hospital, Bishnupur, Senapati, Churachandpur, Thoubal, Ascent Diagnostics, Swiss Clinic, Shija Hospital, Tamenglong and Babina Diagnostics.
None of them has any significant history of travelling outside the State.
They are residents of Imphal West (59), Imphal East (35), Thoubal (21), Tengnoupal (9), Kangpokpi (1), Bishnupur (8), Ukhrul (1), Senapati (3), Churachandpur (12), Noney (1), Tamenglong (23), Chandel (6) and Kamjong (1).
In the meantime, 151 COVID-19 positive people have been discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (9), home isolation (13), RIMS (2), JNIMS (11), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (44), CCC UNACCO (11), Lamding (1), RD Wing (4), Noney (4), Jiribam (1), Moreh (4), Bishnupur (5), Bal Bhavan (8), Thoubal (14), Tamenglong (5), Chandel (1), Senapati (8), Kangpokpi (1) and Ukhrul (5).
The cumulative figure of COVID-19 positive cases has reached 17604 (general population 14889, Central security personnel 2715).
It includes 4246 active cases (general population 3963, Central security personnel 283) and 13208 discharged cases (general population 10780, Central security personnel 2428).
The recovery rate as on Tuesday is 75.02 per cent.
