Assam Rifles organises COVID-19 awareness drives at remote villages under Jan Andolan campaign

Assam Rifles organised awareness drives on COVID-19 under the Jan Andolan Campaign at various villages of Manipur on 27 and 28 October.
The drive was organised to increase the awareness on COVID-19 Protocols to be implemented in remote villages of Manipur, said a release of PRO, Assam Rifles.
The Assam Rifles teams visited Yurabung, Yaingangpokpi, Andro Huikap, Canchipur, Yasom and Molam village.
The civic action teams educated close to 313 locals regarding various Do’s and Don’ts to be followed in the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.
Aspects of wearing of masks, social distancing and personal hygiene were especially highlighted.
Troops of Assam Rifles are continuously contributing in the fight against the pandemic COVID-19 by conduct of such activities and spreading awareness amongst the local population, the release said.
Further, Chassad Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised a COVID-19 awareness drive at Nampisha village on October 27.
A total of 55 persons including women, children of all age group and men of the village attended the programme.
As part of the awareness drive lecture on precautionary measures to be taken in COVID-19 at home or while being in crowded place with Do’s and Don’ts in dealing with the pandemic like importance of wearing of masks, social distancing, personal hygiene and a demonstration on sanitising objects and hand washing techniques was given which was appreciated by all the villagers.
Furthermore, as part of Jan Andolan drive, Assam Rifles along with Kakching Police conducted a COVID-19 awareness drive in and around villages of Kakching today.
The campaign was flagged off at 9:00 am from Kakching Battalion location. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation by Kakching Police officials, Assam Rifles troops and Medical Staff, the release said.
Demonstration on personal hygiene was also organized. The public was made aware of the symptoms of the virus and the need for immediate help and isolation. Masks, pamphlets and hand sanitizers were also provided as part of the drive, it said.
The campaign covered areas of Wapokpi village at Sugnu, Shalluk, Wabagai and Waikhong village and the villagers were sensitised about social distancing, use of masks and maintaining cleanliness to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infections.
The efforts of the Government in securing a vaccine against COVID-19 and measures likely to adopted once it is available was also briefed.
The local population, shop owners, villagers, women and children pledged their support to abide by the guidelines of COVID-19 appropriate behaviour, it added.
