Ukhrul fetes RS MP

IMPHAL, Oct 28: Ukhrul today rolled out the red carpet for Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba with a fitting reception programme at TTA hall, organised by the Tangkhul Wungnao Long.
Speaking at his felicitation programme organised the MP said he became an elected Member of the Rajya Sabha by the grace of God and thanked the people for their support.
He said he would work towards easing the suffering of people and developing the hills.
“For 25 years, I was not able to do enough for the people of the hills. I had visited many places in the hills and shared their sorrow and happiness. I had promised them many things. Unfortunately, I did not have the strength to deliver the promises. But now, by the grace of God, I have become a Member of Parliament. I can now work at my best to develop the hills and deliver the promises I made,” said Leishemba.
He said he was able to reach here (become an MP) because of the love and guidance of the elders of the hills and added that he would work his best to foster the bond of love and friendship between the hills and the valley people.
Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long members including, AS Vommi, Tuisem Kamkara, Tangkhul Shanao Long member Veronica Zingkhai and members of other organisations attended the event and presented gifts to Leishemba Sanajaoba.
