Ex-DIG PK Dutta remanded to 6-day CID custody

Former DIG of Assam Police, PK Dutta, who is one of the prime accused in the SI recruitment scam, has been remanded to 6-day CID custody.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Assam Police sought custody of the former top Assam Police official for 7 days.
However, the court of the chief judicial magistrate of Kamrup Metro district sent Dutta to the custody of CID for 6 days.
Before interrogation by the CID, the court directed that Dutta’s health be checked up in the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).
The court was told that he was suffering from high blood pressure, diabetes and cardiac problem.
Dutta has tested negative for COVID19.
The retired DIG was arrested by West Bengal Police on Tuesday from Kakarbhitta along the Indo-Nepal border.
A team of Assam Police took him to the CID office on Tuesday night.
It has been alleged that Dutta and ruling BJP leader Diban Deka had assured jobs to many candidates in lieu of cash. Dutta was arrested in a case No 21/20 IPC Sec 120(B), 409 RW 66(B) registered by the CID of Assam Police.        NorthEast Now
