Database Administrator, Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur, L Sujata Devi informed that the by-elections to fill vacant seats in State Legislative Assembly will use the applications such as eAtlas, Traccar and BoothApp for smooth conduct and real time monitoring of election related activities.
She stated that the ‘eAtlas’ will enable election planning, monitoring and real time decision making on poll day using geospatial technology. It will help monitor the safe arrival of the poll personnel at their respective polling stations, capture and instantly report incidents and alerts about EVM/VVPAT malfunctions and real time reporting which will be visible on the eAtlas dashboard.
Further, Traccar, an application with GPS is being installed on the Sector Officers’ mobile phones for tracking, accessing and reporting of the real time locations.
‘BoothApp’ will facilitate faster identification of voters using encrypted QR code from the digital marked copy of the electors. This will reduce queues, facilitate faster polling and ensure error-free recording of poll turn out without manual intervention, L Sujata Devi said.
The BoothApp will be handled by the Polling Officer-1. As soon as the PO reaches the polling station, a geo-tagged selfie will be updated.  The original polling process will continue as per the existing norms. The application will help reduce chances of bogus voting or duplication of votes.
She also informed that the Voter Turnout App provides estimated voters turnout in the real-time. This application will simplify the data entry processed and timely disseminate information in real-time. This application can be downloaded from Google Play Store and used by the general masses, she said.
It may be mentioned that the by-elections to four Assembly Constituencies-Wangoi, Wangjing Tentha, Lilong and Saitu will be held on November 7 and votes will be counted on November 10. (DIPR)
