IMPHAL, Nov 6: A bailey bridge located along Imphal-Moreh highway at Tengnoupal has been dismantled and its components have started reaching Irang.
Five trucks loaded with dismantled components of the bailey bridge reached Irang this afternoon. It is expected that all the components would reach Irang by Sunday.
One NHIDCL official said that installation of the bailey bridge would begin only after all the components have reached Irang.
Informing that the process of installing the bailey bridge would be completed as quickly as possible, the NHIDCL official said that tender was floated three times for construction of standard bridge at Irang but the rate quotations submitted by bidders were very high. As such, all the tender process ended in failure. Nonetheless, a revised estimate was sent to the Ministry of Highways to hold the tender again even before the Irang Bridge snapped.
A fresh tender would be floated as soon as the Ministry approves the revised estimate, added the NHIDCL official.
