CCpur, Nov 6: The Hmar Students' Association (HSA), Churachandpur Joint HQ, has hailed one of its members for highlighting the factual healthcare condition in Pherzawl district through a PIL that was heard by the Court on October 12, 2020.
HSA is delighted to learn that one of its members James Dalthangsang of Saidan village has highlighted the healthcare scenario of Pherzawl district in the PIL.
In the litigation, James informed the Court that the people in Pherzawl particularly Senvon, Leisen, Lungthulien and Parvachawm villages have no access to healthcare facilities provided under National Health Mission (NHM) as most of the health care institutions in the district are all non-functional, said a statement issued by the student body. The statement also approved the claims of James that all PHCs in Pherzawl district have no full-fledged medical practitioners, health programmes and healthcare facilities.
CHC Parbung has only one doctor and 3 nurses working 24x7, it added.Posts for regular doctors and paramedics are vacant and not filled. The few posted regular doctors and nurses are nowhere to be seen in the PHC and PHSC. Even life-saving drugs are not available. No health care camps are conducted under the CMO and no free medicines are distributed to the poor and needy women, alleged the statement.
The student body expressed hope that the directives of the Court would be complied with by the authorities concerned.
