IMPHAL, Nov 6 : Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) has disapproved the recent statement of one organisation seeking introduction of other scripts in addition to Manipuri script (Meitei Mayek).
KSA, in a statement recalled the movement language movement and introduction of Meitei Mayek in schools from 2006 onwards and expressed happiness that the script has will be studied at Master level from the ensuing session onwards.
The recent statement from a body to introduce other script including Bengali for study upto Class X by deriding the study of the very own script, is questionable and uncalled for, said KSA. It is an utter disrespect to all those who had sacrificed towards the cause of development of local language and script upto the present stage, it said.
Their motive also clearly violates, NEP 2020 which emphasis local language as the medium for instruction till Class V, it said while adding that KSA will oppose any move to mislead the students and demean the local language and script.
