Startup Manipur outreach programme held at Ukhrul

Ukhrul, Nov 6: Manipur State Planning Department organised a programme to sensitize the youth on Startup Manipur at Hamleikhong, Ukhrul.
During the programme, Commissioner of  Planning & PHED Dept, Devesh Deval said that the programme was organised to inform the youth about the financial support provided by the State Government in setting up their business under Manipur Startup scheme.
He said that the outreach programme will be held in all the districts of the State in a phase manner.The programme aims to promote a " Greenfield" venture of SC/ST/OBC/women/minority/differently-abled entrepreneurs in establishing their business.
Devesh Deval stated that a chocolate making company from Ukhrul district "Hill Wild" has upscaled their business relatively in a short span through the support of Manipur Start Up project.
The commissioner also informed that scheme application is open throughout the years for the convenience of the interested persons.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul Joseph Pauline Kamson in his welcome speech elaborated about the business prospect of the district.
Informing that more than 9000 persons have returned from different metro cities to the district due to the COVID pandemic, Joseph Pauline Kamson said that the returnees need encouragement to find appropriate source income. Joseph Pauline also mentioned that the local MLA Alfred Arthur Kanngam has already collected data of the returnees of Ukhrul.Zeinorinn proprietor of Hill wild shared her experience on how she began her business.
Zeinorinn said that she began chocolate making in 2017 in her kitchen with her partner Leiyolan Vashum and urged the youth interested in business to take the benefit of the financial assistance granted under the Startup scheme.Meanwhile, Devesh Deval handed over a cheque to three persons who had qualified for Startup Manipur.A question hour was also conducted with the state planning team to ascertain the opinion of the youth interested in doing business.
Video of the success stories of Manipur Startup was also screened during the programme which was attended by local youth, returnees and CSOs' leaders among others.
