MEELAL urges MU to increase intake capacity

IMPHAL, Nov 7: Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillol Apunba Lup (MEELAL) has urged the Manipur University (MU) authority to increase the intake capacity/seats for admission to MA Manipuri.
Stating that there is no other place to study MIL subject except in the Manipur University, MEELAL in a statement said the present intake capacity of only 130 seats is not enough and the varsity should consider increasing the number.
About 715 students clear BA Manipuri (Honours) every year, it claimed adding Manipuri language is among the 22 official languages of India and increasing the intake capacity could promote the language further.
The Education Minister, the Higher Education Department and the Manipur University should provide the students (Manipuri) with all the required facilities, enable them to pursue further studies and uphold their rights to education, said MEELAL.
