AR conducts village security and interactive meet

IMPHAL, Nov 8: Troops of Assam Rifles conducted village security meet at Sorde post, today.
A press release issued by IGAR (S) said that the programme saw a significant attendance of Village headmen from ten villages, namely, Sorde, Alang, Phungyar, Khonjal, Laushing, Tusom, Mailing, Sorathen, Punge and Sorbung.
The meeting discussed the ongoing Naga peace talks and assurance was given by the community that the peace and tranquillity will be maintained by them irrespective of the outcome of the talks, said the statement.
Issues like inter-communal clashes, smuggling of contraband items and maintenance of law and order were also discussed and sought help from the heads in countering such activities, it added.
Also, measures to contain the outbreak of COVID-19 in the AOR were also discussed, it added.
Saying that the Naga people want an early solution of the ongoing peace talks and requested the Assam Rifles to carry out development activities in the area, IGAR (S) added that the villagers thanked Assam Rifles for providing medical help in the times of need especially to the accident victims.
