COVID-19 positive cases cross 20,000 State records three more deaths

IMPHAL, Nov 7: The number of COVID-19 posi-tive cases has crossed 20,000 mark with 240 fresh infections taking the tally to 20,131.
A report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room issued by Additional Director (Health), Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang said a total of 240 persons including 226 civilians and 14 personnel of Central Armed Police Force tested positive for coronavirus while three persons succumbed at JNIMS and RIMS in the last 24 hours.
According to the official report, the death toll due to COVID-19 has reached 194.
Meanwhile, sources said that the three deaths reported by this paper earlier but not accounted for by the COVID-19 Common Control Room are being assessed by the Shija Hospital authority. The sources claimed that the exact reasons for their deaths are being audited and yet to be ascertained. If these three deaths are taken into account, the toll stands at 197.
On the other hand, the three deaths reported by the COVID-19 Common Control Room today included one 75-year-old woman and a 93-year-old man from Imphal West and one 80-year-old man from Thoubal district. The woman died at JNIMS while the two men died at RIMS.
The 240 fresh COVID-19 cases were detected at testing facilities of JNIMS (60), Tamenglong (39), RIMS (23), Babina Diagnostics (18), Churachandpur (16), Raj Medicity (15), Thoubal (14), Shija Hospital (11), Imphal East (8), Bishnupur (7), Kangpokpi (4), Imphal Hospital (3), Christian Hospital (3), Little Clinic (3), Jiribam (3), Maipakpi (2), RD Wing (2), Escent Diagnostics (2), Samaritan (2), Ukhrul (2), Mother’s Care (1), Hillside (1) and Kamjong (1).
The 226 civilians hail from Imphal East (72), Imphal West (55), Tamenglong (40), Thoubal (16), Churachandpur (12), Bishnupur (9), Kangpokpi (7), Tengnoupal (4), Jiribam (3), Senapati (3), Ukhrul (2), Kakching (1), Kamjong (1) and Chandel (1). All of them are locals with no significant travel history. They are being shifted to COVID-19 Care Centres for necessary treatments and all medical precautionary measures are in place, said the report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
As many as 622 persons including 466 who were under home isolation have recovered from COVID-19. Excluding those under home isolation, the other recovered persons have been discharged from COVID-19 Care Centres of CAPF (42), UNACCO (20), RIMS (18),  LKK (16), Bal Bhavan (15), Bishnupur (14), Thoubal (9), JNIMS (5), RD Wing (3), Jiribam (3), Moreh (3), Lamding (2), LANVA (2), Kasom Khullen (2), PR School Kakching (1) and Tamenglong (1).
The cumulative number of COVID-19 positive cases is 20,131 including 17,306 civilians and 2825 security personnel. The total number of recovered cases is 16,714 including 14,166 civilians and 2548 security personnel. The number of active cases is 3,223 including 2950 civilians and 273 security personnel. The recovery rate stands at 83.02 percent, said the report.
