PYA drub UBFC 4-1 to complete treble in Jiri Cup

IMPHAL, Feb 17 : PYA, Kairang romped to a 4-1 win against UBFC, Hmarkholien to earn third win on the trot in  Group X quarter final league stage at the ongoing 13th Jiri Cup Invitation Football Tournament 2019-20 organised by All Jiribam Sports Association at Jiribam Hr Secondary School playground.
PYA which downed WYFC, Wangjing 3-1 in the previous match, rode on first half strikes by Ejaj, Leingakpa and Nauton to earn their third win today against UBFC.
Ejaj gave PYA a good start scoring the opener in the 12th minute before Leingakpa doubled their advantage three minutes latter. UBFC's woes compounded with Nauton scoring PYA's third in the 16th minute and Ejaj had his second goal of the match in the 20th minute and made it 4-0 their rivals till the break. PYA took their feet of the saddle in the second half and were happy with the huge lead and UBFC which were struggling for a major portion of the game managed a face saving goal in the 80th minute via Jehovah as PYA surged home 4-1.
The day also saw FC Lamjao remain in the hunt for semi-finals by beating WYFC, Wangjing 1-0 thanks to 12th minute strike by Th Yaiphaba. They are now second in Group X standing having earned 3-2 win against UBFC earlier.
