Veteran T-20 Cricket: LCCC beat CHAMP by 4 wickets to keep semi-finals hope alive

IMPHAL, Feb 18 : LCCC, Lilong Chajing kept their semi-finals hope at the ongoing 8th T-20 Veteran Cricket Tournament alive beating CHAMP, Khagempalli by 4 wickets for the second Group stage (A) win at Langthabal Public Ground.
LCCC which suffered a 9 wicket loss in the hands of Model Club earned their second win riding on Krishna's half century after CHAMP set up a target of 138 runs losing 7 wickets in the first innings.
Bablu was close to hit a half century for CHAMP after the team won the toss and elected to bat first but had to depart on 46 in the 33rd delivery. Jodiba also added 34 runs off 23 balls to CHAMP's tally as Sanjoy added 27 off 24 balls.
The innings saw LCCC's Jiten and Jilla grabbed two wickets each while Sanjit managed a single.
In the chase, Krishna struck 55 runs for LCCC in 48 balls and Nandakumar and Sanjit respectively added 36 and 13 runs respectively to steer their team to 139 runs in 18.5 overs and 6 wickets left to spare.
Krishna who shone with the bat in the chase was named man of the match.
Meanwhile in the Group B league match, CYCLONE eased to their second win by beating DSU by 26 runs and ensured their place in the semi-final.
CYCLONE, Thangmeiband won the toss and piled up 148 for 8 after electing to bat first,  thanks to Sashikumar's 34 ball 52. Shyamsunder and Robindro too added 20 runs apiece as Arun made 18 runs to the team's tally in this innings which saw DSU's Sumanda and Manikumar shared two wickets each.
In the chase's DSU slump to 122 in 19.2 overs despite Tomba's 43 run knock as Sudhir of CYCLONE ran riot and picked up 5 wickets to upset the momentum of the chase. Gyaneshor (28) and Brojendro (11) also made double digit scores in a losing cause.
W Surjit, Suraj and Kiran of CYCLONE also bagged a wicket each in this innings.
Sudhir of CYCLONE who finished with a fifer was adjudged man of the match.
YPHU, Lalambung will play Model Club tomorrow in the next Group A league match before NAPSA, Kha Imphal meet LCCC latter in the day.
