RIMS organises meet on Covid -19

IMPHAL, Feb 21: The State Level Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL), Department of Microbiology, RIMS, under DHR/ICMR, organised a one day CME programme on 'Preparedness for Covid-19 outbreak- an update' at RIMS jubilee hall today.
Speaking at the event, RIMS Director Professor A Santa Singh said that till date, there are no effective drugs to combat Covid-19.
At present, hand washing, proper hygiene maintenance, keeping the surrounding neat and clean etc, are the best preventive measures against the virus. RIMS is taking up lots of precautionary steps, he explained.
Santa continued that RIMS has been interacting regularly with the Health Minister and the State Government and added that RIMS is also updating the Central and State Governments in this regard on a daily basis.
RIMS has also arranged a separate isolation ward in case of any eventuality. However, no confirmed cases have been reported so far in Manipur, the Director explained.
Professor Ch Arunkumar, RIMS Medical Superintendent, faculty members, nursing officials and laboratory technicians were also present at the event.
During the technical sessions of the CME, Prof Kh Sulochana Devi of Microbiology Dept, RIMS, Professor Ksh Birendra Singh of Medicine Dept, RIMS, Dr RK Manoj Singh from JNIMS, Dr M Bharati Devi, State Epidemiologist and technical team of VRDL, RIMS, spoke on various topics.
