8th T-20 Manipur Veteran Cricket: Model Club complete league stage sweep with 6 wicket thrashing of NAPSA

IMPHAL, Feb 22 : Model Club, Chingamakha thrashed NAPSA, Kha Imphal by 6 wickets on Saturday to complete Group A league stage sweep and seal semi-final berth of the 8th T-20 Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament being underway at Langthabal Public Ground.
NAPSA which won the toss and chose to bat first could managed only 106 runs for all wickets down in 18.5 overs. Model Club then chased down the target (109 finish) in same 18.5 overs with 6 wickets left in the hand to finish group A winners.
Ratan with 31 runs in his name, topscored for NAPSA as Somorendro added 21 runs off 20 balls. Bipin and Ibobi also added 15 and 14 runs each in this innings which saw Sharat , Pyarlal and Tejkumar of Model Club of Model Club bowl responsibly to share two wickets each.
Demin (21), Gourachandra (20), Suresh (19) and Sunil (17) then steered Model Club to 109 in reply for the big win.
Demin of Model Club who grabbed 21 runs and picked up a wicket in the first innings was named man of the match.
Meanwhile in the Group B league match played latter, OSCAR ended their campaign with a 3 wicket victory against DSU, Kwakeithel.
DSU posted a modest target of 134 runs for 3 after winning the toss and opting to bat first but OSCAR toiled hard and lost 7 wickets before reaching the target in 19.1 overs.
Tomba hit an unbeaten 76 off 66 balls in DSU's innings while Chingtam managed second highest  score of 22 runs.
DSU lost two to Gogou of OSCAR in this innings as Anggu fetched the other wicket.
Gogou then scored an impressive 50 balls 70 to set the tone for the OSCAR chase before Anggu added 14 runs. Milan and Stainley the contributed 9 run each to put OSCAR past the rivals' total.
Maison, Somorjit and Mani of DSU gave OSCAR a tough time during the chase by picking up two wickets each but their efforts went in vain as OSCAR capped the chase in the first ball of the last over.
CYCLONE will play YWC in a battle for Group B winners tomorrow as CHAMP will play YPHU in a inconsequential Group A league match latter.
