Free eye screening camp organised

Shija Eye Care Foundation, NPCB (NHM) and  Young Vaiphei Association (YVA), Leilon Block jointly organised a free eye screening and cataract surgery camp at Leilon Phaikot Community Hall, Kangpokpi district, said a statement of Y VA.
People from about 20  villages come to avail the benefit of the camp conducted by a team of doctors and staff of Shija Eye Care Foundation, said YVA.
Continuing that over 300 patients underwent eye check-up by the doctors and were given consultation, screening and spectacles at a low cost, it added that 38 patients have been diagnosed for cataract surgeries out of which 8 patients were admitted in the first stage to Shija Hospital & Research Institute, Imphal for further check-up and surgery free of cost.
Another 20 patients and 1 patient were also diagnosed for pterygium and dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) respectively, it added.
In this regard, YVA and the people of Leilon Vaiphei area extended gratitude to Shija Eye Care Foundation, NPCB (NHM) for their noble initiative.
The association further thanked Genneikhup Vaiphei, Deputy Chairman ADC, Churachandpur for making the programme a success.
