Stage set for semi-finals of T-20 Veteran Cricket tourney

IMPHAL, Feb 23 : The semi-finals line up of the T-20 Veteran Cricket Tournament organised by Manipur Veteran Cricket Association was completed today.
The last Group B league match saw CYCLONE, Thangmeiband restrict YWC, Langthabal to 136 runs for 6 to earn a 42 run victory.
YWC had to rue their decision to field first as CYCLONE rode on half centuries by Sashikumar (86 off 51 balls) and Jempu (63 off 56 balls) to post a total of 178 runs for 3 in their quota of 20 overs.
YWC's Dhananjoy, Kumarjit and Priyokumar shared a wicket each in this innings before their chase slumped to 136 runs although Sashi provided the initial momentum hitting 33 runs and Priyokumar added 22 runs off 31 balls.
CYCLONE bowlers also had an impressive innings with Bikom picking up two while his team mates Thoithoi, Arun and Robindro claimed a wicket each.
Sashikumar who topscored for CYCLONE was named man of the match.
Meanwhile in a dead rubber Group A league match, CHAMP, Khagempalli thrashed YPHU, Lalambung by 57 runs.
CHAMP's Sanjoy impressed with the bat with a stellar 47 ball 115 and remained not out to help his team post a huge 232 total for 3.
Geet (35), Bullu (32) and Jodiba (27) also made significant contributions for CHAMP  after winning the toss and electing to bat first.
YPHU's Dularba picked up two wickets in this innings as Shanti managed the remaining wicket.
In the chase, Ibungobi scored an unbeaten 103 off 60 balls but his effort was not enough to get his team past CHAMP's target. Hemanta (21) and Sanjoy (14) also contributed to help YPHU gather 175 runs for 6 in the chase. Sanjoy of CHAMP scalped twice to earn the man of the match accolade while Geet, Itao and Bullu fetched a wicket each.
YWC, Langthabal will meet Model Club in the first semi-final match on February 26 as LCCC, Lilong take on CYCLONE for the remaining final berth on February 27.
