IMPHAL, Feb 22: Tunnel No 4 of the Jiribam-Imphal railway line  was inaugurated by Railway Board Chairman VK Yadav  at Marangching village today.
North East Frontier Railway General Manager Sanjve Roy, COA/C/I/MLG Mohan Lal and VCCL North East Vertical Head SK Maulali were also present at the event.
Tunnel No 4 is 2265 metres long and it is the 2nd longest tunnel (out of 7) which will connect Tupul and Imphal.
Speaking on the sideline of the event, VK Yadav said that the remaining tunnels will also be completed soon.
He explained that even though the target for completion of the tunnels is within the current year, the work has been delayed due to the geographical remoteness and the hilly terrain.
Stating that almost 90 percent of the tunnel works have been completed, VK Yadav said that work is being carried out at the Tunnel No 12 which is around 10 km long.
He then exuded confidence that all the works will be completed by the new deadline of March 2022.
