SHDSVA foundation day cum sports meet ends in style

KANGPOKPI, Mar 14: The 7th Foundation Day of Sadar Hills District Sports Veteran Association and its veteran Sports Meet final match concluded in style on March 9 at the veteran home ground Ngahmun in Kangpokpi District.
Works Minister Th Bishwajit Singh graced the occasion as chief guest and Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen attended as functional president. ADC Sadar Hills Chairman Haokholal Hangshing, Manipur Pollution Control Board Chairman, MLA Radhakishore and MLA Keirao L  Rameshore also attended as guest of honours.
"Without Manipur sports in India is incomplete as it possessed the potential and being the power house of Sports in India," said Minister Th Bishwajit.
He recalled that the Prime Minister of India nominated ace boxer Mary Kom from Manipur as Member of Parliament so as to recognize the immense contribution of Manipuri women in the Nation running especially in the field of sports.
The Minister also said that discipline found in Sports is not found anywhere in other fields so it has been become a crucial platform to bridge any gap and misunderstanding among the people.
He also assured the organizing committee to put in the next work program about the construction of fencing of Sadar Hills Veteran home Ground and others demands in the Memorandum submitted by the committee.
Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen said that games and sports have the potential to eschew a person away from drugs and other bad behaviours and could pave a path to healthy living.
ADC Sadar Hills Chairman, Manipur Pollution Control Board, MLA Keirao AC also spoke on the occasion. The final match between Kanggui Veteran and Tujanglhang Veteran kicked off after inspection of players by the dignitaries and photo sessions.
Kanggui Veteran found the opener through Len Doungel in the 25th minute while Risky and Gigin added one each in the 58th and 62nd minutes while Tujanglhang Veteran pulled back a goal in the 50th minute. Eventually Kanggui Veteran won the match 3-1 and lifted the champion trophy with cash prize Rs 50,000. Runners up Tujanglhang Veteran received a trophy and cash prize of Rs.30,000.
Third placed J Songtun Veteran and fourth placed SAVO received Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. IB Veteran team  bagged the best team award and its player Jacob (62) begged the oldest player award.
Hemi N Guite of J Songtun Veteran and Thangkholun of SAVO bagged the top scorer and best goalkeeper award while Janghen of Tujanglhang Veteran bagged the man of the tournament award.
Minister Nemcha Kipgen de-hoisted the flag to mark the end of the Sports meet.
