COVID-19: TUC bans climbing of Cheirao Ching

IMPHAL, Mar 17 : As an additional preventive measures against the deadly COVID-19, Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) has prohibited mass climbing of Cheirao Ching in Thangmeiband on Cheiraoba Numit (March 25), except for carrying out the religious rituals.
Speaking to media persons at Naharol Leishemba Club (NLC) in Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai today, TUC president Leishangthem Pratap said that as part of taking up precautionary measures by the State Government to keep the epidemic at bay, including closing of schools and prohibition of any mass gatherings, the club has also decided to ban climbing of Cheirao Ching in the area.
The club will not intervene any rituals activities at the hill , he said. However, setting up of stalls, mass climbing of the hill will not be allowed, he added. He appealed to all the people to cooperate and understand the gravity of the situation.
TUC president further appealed to all not to spread any false rumours regarding detection of COVID-19 cases and cause panic amongst all.
