DIMAPUR, Mar 17: The Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal Immigrants (JCPI) will be convening "an emergency meeting" of all apex tribe bodies and civil society organizations on March 19 at the Tourist Lodge conference hall in Dimapur at 11 am in connection with the Inner Line Permit (ILP) and Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN).
A statement issued by JCPI in this regard said that the meeting has been called "as the ultimatum issued to the State Government with regard to the issues of the RIIN and ILP on February 24 has expired".
The ultimatum had demanded fresh notification of RIIN based on the Banuo Commission report with 1963 as cut off year; revocation of the 1979 cut off year under BEFR 1873; physical implementation of ILP as per the Abhishek Singh Committee report and establishment of Foreigners Tribunals under Foreigners Act 1946.
The JCPI has requested all leaders to attend the "important meeting on priority".
