Kankhu Athletic FC win Chandel Second Divn Football League crown

IMPHAL, Mar 7 : Kankhu Athletic FC ( Kankhu AFC) defeated Japhou YC 2-0 to win the title of the ADC Chandel Trophy Second Division Football League 2019-20 today at Liwa Sarei Ground.
Kankhu AFC which entered the final with a 7-0 thrashing of Paraolon YC failed to maintain its composure but goals from red hot WL Thumwarhring and Alet in the second half helped them earn the 2-0 win against Japhou YC for the coveted title.
Japhou YC  which thumped Khongjon YC 3-0 to reach the final could not sustain their previous form but managed to fend of strong Kankhu AFC's attack for a better portion of the first half.
After playing out a goalless first half WL Thumwarhring shot hit thrice in last four round clash, opened up Kankhu AFC's account in the 50th minute while his team Alet was able to double the advantage in the 68th minute.
With not much time left in the hand, Japhou YC struggled hard and managed to create few chance but failed to capitalise and had to see Kankhu AFC cruise home 2-0.
Winners, Kankhu AFC and runners up, Japhou YC and other two losing semi-finalists, Paraolon YC and Khongjon  YC will be playing in the upcoming Chandel First Division League.
The tournament organised by District Sports Association Chandel was participated by 16 teams clubbed into four pools.
