13th Manipur State League: YPHU slip out of relegation zone with 2-0 victory over SU

IMPHAL, Mar 7 : Struggling Young Physique Union (YPHU), Lalambung breathed fresh air as they topped Sagolband United (SU) 2-0 at Artificial Turf ground, Khuman Lampak today to get out of the relegation zone of the ongoing 13th Manipur State League.
YPHU which were able to win twice and draw once in the previous 5 matches, worked their best to reach safer zone and today's win greatly helped to keep them afloat on 10 points.
Meanwhile, the Sagolband team which suffered 1-3 loss to NISA in the previous match continued to slump for the fifth time in as many as 8 matches.
At with the end of 6th round, DM RAO, KLASA, AFC, AIM and GSC are provisionally facing relegation threat as five teams with lowest points are going to be relegated this season.
Although SU dominated the earlier proceedings and made the most of the chances, their forwards faltered at the goalmouth and thus their efforts went in vain. The missed chances cost them dearly as YPHU had their say on counter attacks with Lungkhongam H scoring in the 11th minute.
The Sagolband side pushed hard to find the equaliser but luck was not on their side and to their disappointment N Olen Singh deftly controlled Kh Lucky side pass from around the halfway line before unleashing a power-packed shot to make  it 2-0 in the 29th minute.
After trailing 2-0 till the break SU made a more discipline approach but the Lalambung side managed to keep all threats at bay to go home will all three points.
YPHU's Kh Lucky Singh (47') and N Olen Singh (90+4') were yellow carded by the referee for the unsportsmanlike behaviours.
