Minister Nemcha Kipgen graces final match of Dhanabir Trophy

Imphal, Mar 7 : Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen graced the final match of the 6th Dhanabir Trophy State Level village Open men’s 7-A side football tournament, 2020 held today at Light Youth Club Ground, Angtha.
The final match was played between Dhanabir FC, Angtha and Sanjenbam FC where in the latter team won 5-2 on penalties after 1-1 draw during regulation time.
L Kishan helped Dhanabir FC pulled level in the 38th minute after M Klinton broke the deadlock in the 35th minute to give Sanjenbam FC a 1-0 lead.
In the shoot-out only Y James scored it for Dhanabir FC after Y Bobo and L Suraj missed their target while M Clinton, M Roger, L Bobothoi and Kh Mocha all scored for the winning team.
Besides winning the top prize, Sanjenbam FC's Roger, Mocha and M Klinton were adjudged best player, best goalkeeper and best defender accolades respectively while Amar FC's Klinton received the top scorer award as his team got the best disciplined team award.
Olen of Jack FC was adjudged emerging player.
While addressing the gatherings, Minister Nemcha acknowledged that Manipur have so far produced many famous footballers in the National and International level. She expressed that such tournament held at the village level gives platforms for football enthusiasts at the grass root levels.  Nemcha encouraged the youths specially players to maintain a strict and disciplined lifestyle in order to excel in their sporting career. She also mentioned the importance of education too as it forms the base of all personality development.
The Minister also highlighted that the State Government under the initiative of Chief Minister,  N Biren Singh have recently installed floodlight in Khuman Lampak as a form of encouragement to the football players.
Minister, MAHUD, Town Planning, Forest & Environment, Thounaojam Shyamkumar and Member, 16 Tulihal Zila Parishad,  Kongbram Inaocha also graced the occasion as functional president and guest of honour respectively.
