Coronavirus-I

Normally
Yellow leaves
Flutter and fall
In autumn.

The young and the old
The rich and the poor
All do fall and perish
Be it winter or spring;
Coronavirus  coronavirus
It spreads over the whole world, love.

Coronavirus!
A virus, a living thing
Too small to be seen
To the naked eye!
It makes all the difference.

A civilized society
And man has changed much
Over the years.
He has the biggest ego of anyone
In the cosmos.
And he has overreached himself.
Who would have thought
The small living thing
To have had so much
Deadly and destructive power
In its unseen make-up?
Man is undone
By a tiny living thing
But a gigantic enemy.

2020
What a year!
It’s the end of an era
And the beginning of another –
A new era
Where the oneness of mankind
Is a way of life
Not a philosophical concept.
    Coronavirus-II
Why this pandemonium
When the news of my arrival is acknowledged
By the country in the east?
I thrive in such a situation.

This is the 21st century.
You’re a civilized people;
You live in a civilized world.
Lockdown, social distancing…
Well, it’s good
And it’ll be to your benefit
To follow these preventive measures.
Don’t talk much;
Don’t write much.
Just one word and let it be sufficient.
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
Let the virologists do the talking
Let the epidemiologists do the talking;
Why should, repeat, why should
Any Tom, Dick or Harry do the talking?
Our scientists are men of few words
And have no time for cheap advertisements.
They are the ones who’ll protect you
And who are really fighting against
A pandemic disease.
They are engaged in laboratory experiments
And are on duty twenty-four seven.
Three cheers for the scientists!
