Curfew extended in South West Khasi Hills

SHILLONG, Apr 27: The District Magistrate of South West Khasi Hills district, Isawanda Laloo has extended curfew throughout the district with immediate effect till 12 noon of May 3.
This curfew which was promulgated under Section 144 CrPC read together with Regulation 3 of the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, Covid-19 Regulations, 2020, restricts movement of vehicles and inter-district travel without proper pass.
It also prohibits the gathering of five or more persons in public areas and premises beyond the individual households. There will also be no movement in public places without masks and spitting in public places has been prohibited.
This order will however not be applicable to security forces, medical teams on COVID-19 duty, government officials on duty, police and armed forces, fire and emergency service, MeECL and power grid, Food and Civil Supply department, FCI, telecom, communication and IT services, print and electronic media, banks and ATMs, fuel pumps, medical officers and staff of the Health department, officers and staff of other Government departments working on COVID-19 duty and also home delivery of household items.
Also, movement of vehicles carrying essential commodities along the national highways, security forces and medical equipments are also exempted. However, drivers and attendants of vehicles shall be subjected to medical screening, compulsory disinfection and other health advisories as per laid down protocols.
