IMPHAL, Apr 2: Following the detection of the 2nd COVID-19 positive case in Manipur, Peace Hospital and Research Institute (Porompat Pangal Leirak No 2) where the 65 year old patient was treated earlier, has been closed down by the Gover-nment and altogether 16 employees, including the founder and doctors of the centre, have been picked up for putting them in quarantine facility.
The individual, hailing from Lilong and who has been found positive for the virus late last night, had participated in the religious congregation held at Niza-muddin, Delhi in March.
According to information received by The Sangai Express, the individual was earlier brought to the hospital/research centre for treat- ment with complaints of fever, UTI, diabetes and kidney problems and had undergone treatment from March 20 to 22.
After he was found positive for COVID-19 last night, his travel history was immediately searched and it was found that he was earlier admitted for treatment at the said centre for three days, the source informed.
During his stay at the hospital, around 16 employees including the adminis- trator, founder, RMO, doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians and reception employees reportedly made direct contact with the individual.
The source continued that the 16 employees have been picked up from their respective houses and hospital, by police to keep them in quarantine centre.
When this reporter went to inspect the surrounding area of the hospital, it was found that signboards had been put up near the entrance of the hospital which said that it was closed but some vehicles were found parked in front of the hospital.
