ADC Member reaches out to people, wins hearts

At a time when most people are staying indoors, and many families, especially in Moreh areas, have been hit hard due to lack of food items following the lockdown and curfew over the scare of the deadly coronavirus, a member of Chandel Autonomous District Council, Cecilia Chinneivah Haokip, has become an epitome of humanity by reaching out to the people and extending help in kind to feed the needy people.
Concerned about the food scarcity and the prevailing crisis triggered by the outbreak of coronavirus, Chinneivah Haokip from Moreh 17- A- Constituency, distributed rice, dal and salt to every household of Shijang Veng,Guite Veng, Muolhoi Veng and Home Guard Veng through locality leaders today.
Stating that her love for the people of her Constituency compelled her to provide whatever assistance she can from her pocket to ensure that no one starves during the fight against the deadly virus, Cecilia said “Although the assistance was nothing in terms of quantity, I wanted to convey my love to my people by reaching out to them in kind.”
She said that similar assistance will be distributed to each household of the remaining localities - Mission Veng, Ngamkhai Veng and Sinai Veng tomorrow.
There are approximately 1000 households within Moreh 17- A Constituency.
She said that Moreh is vulnerable to novel coronavirus since it is situated on the indo-Myanmar border and added that the people are on the verge of facing a food shortage due to the sealing of border and Nationwide lockdown.
“I don’t want my people to starve because of the prevailing situation. I will extend all possible help to comfort them both in-kind and words,” Chinneivah said.
Chinneivah Haokip, who is also the co-convenor of the Small Town Committee, Moreh, then asked people not to panic because of the virus but to instead strictly follow the Government guidelines to prevent its spread.
She also urged the people to approach her in case they face any problems in connection with the virus.
Stating that she will stand by them in times of distress, Chinneivah Haokip said she shares the problems of the people.
“The problem of my people is my problem and their safety is my safety,” she said while extending comfort to the people of Moreh 17- A- Constituency.
