IMPHAL, Apr 3
The All Manipur Muslim Organisations’ Coordinating Committee (AMMOCOC) has expressed strong dis-pleasure over communally motivated actions perpe-trated by some people in the wake of the confirmation of a COVID-19 positive case at Lilong Turel Ahanbi.
A statement issued by AMMOCOC decried that following confirmation of the second COVID-19 positive case in the State, some people blocked roads, refused grocery and other items to a particular community, refused admission of patients belong to the particular community for delivery cases and other critical illness in hospitals and some people have been uploading posts and comments which stereotyped a particular community with communal overtones.
Strongly condemning such communally motivated activities, the AMMOCOC urged the Government to take up befitting action against the communal elements.  While expressing confidence that CSOs would take up necessary actions regarding the matter, it appreciated the press statement issued by AMUCO yesterday.  It then appealed to the Pangal community to be on guard against politically motivated rumours and put faith in the State Government.
It also appealed to all the people to support the lock-down and cooperate with the several measures taken up by authorities to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.
