Stock medical supplies: AMUCO

IMPHAL, Apr 4: Expre- ssing apprehension that the State may run out of medical supplies amidst the lockdown due to novel coronavirus out-break, AMUCO (All Mani- pur United Clubs' Organisa-tion) has appealed the Government to take up necessary measures and ensure ample stock of medical supplies and life saving drugs.
Meanwhile, an IL-76 aircraft of the India Air Force landed at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport today evening with 14 tonnes of medical supplies, PPE, masks, sanitizers, hand gloves, Sodium Hypochlorite etc.
Lauding Chief Minister N Biren Singh and the Government for prompt actions to contain the virus, AMUCO in a statement highlighted that the State needs ample stock of life saving drugs and other medical supplies amidst the lockdown.
Even as the Government is taking up measures to feed people by distributing rice and pulses to complete the lockdown, the State should also see that there is enough stock of life saving drugs and ensure timely replenishment of the supplies.
The State must ensure that people who are suffering from AIDS/HIV, cancer, diabetes, blood pressure, heart diseases, kidney related ailments, liver, psy- chiatric illness have access to required medicines and life saving drugs, said AMUCO. The State must also see that there is proper services and enough medical supplies for pregnant women requiring medical treatment and child delivery operations, it added.
AMUCO also highlighted the issues poultry farmers are facing during the lockdown. Due to lack of poultry feeds, the State's poultry farmers are facing immense problems.
Thousands of birds have died due to lack of feeds, said AMUCO urging the Government to ensure availability of poultry and other farm animals' feeds.
