'Rice much lesser than what was promised'

IMPHAL, Apr 4: Mapao Christian (Zingsho) Village Authority has claimed that the rice provided by the department concerned under State relief programme for Mapao Village was much lesser than what was promised by the State Government.
As the Government decision, 20 kg of rice should be provided to every family where there are 5 or more members at minimum, however, only 7 kgs of rice were distributed in each household, said a statement issued by the secretary of the Village Authority.
Stating that only 19 bags of rice (50 kg) were distributed in the village which has 129 households and a total population of 697, he appealed the State Government and department concerned to look into the matter and address the grievances of Mapao villagers at the earliest.
