COVID-19: NEFIS releases helpline numbers for stranded students, people

IMPHAL, Apr 4: The North-East Forum for International Solidarity (NEFIS) today launched helpline numbers to help the students and common people from North-East who have been stranded in various cities across India during the lockdown due to coronavirus.
Announcing the launch of the helpline numbers- 9366168295, 7827681276, 9818689635, NEFIS in a statement said that the lockdown has led to many instances of discrimination and racist attacks on North East people in many parts of India.
Earlier, NEFIS had written to the Ministry for Home Affairs regarding the problems being faced by the people of North-East in various cities and had demanded strict action against people indulging in racist acts. It had also demanded district administrations across the country to ensure safety and wellbeing of the people of North East.
Meanwhile, NEFIS through the helpline numbers will aissist and help NE students and people stranded in various cities across India during the lockdown, said NEFIS.
