Dikho assures more rice for Ukhrul, Kamjong

Ukhrul, Apr  4: PHE Minister Losii Dikho has stated that more essential commodities for Ukhrul and Kamjong districts would be arrived soon and the same will be available in the market sufficiently.
Dikho who is in-charge to supervise the various activities for combating measures of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts against the outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) today visited Ukhrul along with Addl Chief Secretary MH Khan,  a nodal officer for both Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, to take stock of the ground situation of the two districts.
The Minister stated that an additional two hundred quintals of rice for Ukhrul and Kamjong will be arrived very soon for stocking food grains in the two districts in order to avert a shortage of food during the lockdown period.
The Minister held a meeting with three MLAs, MH Khan, UADC Chairman Dr Yaronsho Ngalung,  DCs and SPs of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, CMO and DLOs at Ukhrul DC office chamber and discussed issue and problems prevailing in the two districts.
Dikho felt the need for setting up separate institutional quarantine centre for the two districts. Furthermore, he mentioned that the State Government is in the process of purchasing more ventilators in order to avail the facilities in all District Hospitals.
Meanwhile, MH Khan said that additional two hundred quintals of rice for Ukhrul and Kamjong districts have been intended under OMSS as the first phase,  apart from NFSA rice and also mentioned that three months quota for  NFSA has been doubled by the Government of India.
Responding to the query raised by media persons, MH Khan said that District Administrator has to set up separate relief camp and kept those migrants workers,  stranded workers, visitors and provide them with free food and lodging during the emergency lockdown period.
He also said that NFSA rice was also distributed to non card holders as a humanitarian service.
Notably, Ukhrul district is yet to establish separate quarantine centre and relief campsite in spite of the Central Government guidelines for establishment as an immediate response to fight against the pandemic outbreak COVID-19 in the region.
