Public storeroom opened

IMPHAL, May 29: A public storeroom was opened at Waiton Mamang Leikai under Waiton Gram Panchayat today.
Waiton GP Pradhan P Surbala attended the event as chief guest.
Speaking at the event, Surbala stressed that inclusive development is possible only when villages and Panchayats are involved.
Proper functioning and effective decentralisation through PRIs (Panchayati Raj Institutions) is a must for the overall development of the State and the Nation at large.
The public storeroom was constructed under the fund of the 14th Finance Commission. A total of Rs 15,69,250 was sanctioned for Waiton Gram Panchayat under the 14th Finance Commission, she said adding 10 per cent was deducted for office maintenance and Rs 14,12,325 was available for actual work programme.
With the fund, a sanitary pucca drain at Waiton, one crematorium at Pangei, one public crematorium waiting shed at Sawombung and one public kitchen shed at Pourabi have been completed. In addition, crematorium waiting shed at Waiton was also repaired, she said.
