ATSUM, ‘a ray of hope’ for stranded Manipuris in Chandigarh

KANGPOKPI, May 29: The All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM) has emerged as a ray of hope’ for the many North East students specially the Manipuris in Chandigarh who have been left behind in the evacuation program initiated by the State Government earlier.
The youth affairs and sports, secretary of ATSUM Lamcha Chongloi had contacted the Kalyan Ashram Samiti, Manipur office at Imphal to help the stranded Manipuris in Chandigarh after which the Ashram immediately contacted its branch at Chandigarh to help the stranded Manipuris in Chandigarh.
Lamcha said that the Kalyan Ashram Samiti, Chandigarh then extended a helping hand to the stranded needy NE/Manipuris in Chandigarh.
He alsa said that the entire operation was successful with the help of the selfless service rendered by the executives of the KSO Chandigarh.
The KSO earlier sought help from MLAs  and Ministers from Manipur but was told to register at  www.tengbang.in only and no help either in cash or kind was rendered, he added.
Meanwhile, ATSUM on behalf of the stranded NE people in Chandigarh, expressed gratefulness to the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram Samiti Chandigarh, the Kalyan Ashram Samiti Manipur and the Kuki Students Organisation, Chandigarh for the help rendered  and appealed to continue the same in times of need in the coming days while combating the pandemic COVID-19.
