IMPHAL, May 30: Returnees at a quarantine centre in Thoubal district have urged health authorities and Government to keep them separated from those who arrive from red zone and conduct tests at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons, concerned parents and the returnees who had arrived from orange zone in Dehradun  said even though they are lodged in separate rooms they are sharing bathrooms and toilets with those who have arrived from red zone.
A total of 39 returnees from Dehradun (orange zone) have been staying at the Lamding Higher Secondary School quarantine centre since May 22. Their swab samples have not been collected till today for test, they said adding the quarantine centre also has about 48 returnees from Pune (red zone).
"Even though returness from orange and red zone are kept in separate rooms, we are using the same bathrooms and toilets. There is high risk of contracting the virus if there is any infected person among the inmates" they claimed.
Besides sharing common bathrooms and toilets, they said they have not been tested for the virus yet. "We have been here for eight days now and our test samples have not been collected yet.
Returnees in other quarantine centres who had arrived in Manipur with us have already been tested for the virus and most of them are in home quarantine now after testing negative," they said appealing authorities concerned to collect their samples and test for the virus at the earliest.
