Health Minister visits quarantine centres in Imphal East, West

Imphal, May 31 (DIPR): Health & Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar visited COVID-19 quarantine centres located at different places of Imphal West and Imphal East district today.
The Minister also distributed PPEs, sanitizer, N-95 masks and gloves for the health workers at the quarantine centres. He also interacted with the health staff stationed at the quarantine centres and heard feedback from them.
Acknowledging that the quarantine centres may be lacking adequate number of health workers and supporting staff, the Minister assured that the Health Department is trying its level best to increase the number of health workers and supporting staff at the earliest to ensure proper and smooth functioning of the centres.
He also appealed the health workers and all at the centres to follow all safety protocol and take up cooperate for the time being.
He will also visit quarantine centres opened in different districts, said the Minister.
With the increase in the COVID-19 cases, Additional Director (Health), Dr Arkey said that the department has identified UNACCO School, Meitram as a COVID Care Centre of the State with 100 beds in the first phase. The department is taking up all necessary steps in this regard, he said. Deputy Director (Health), Dr A Probin, Dr Somendro and other health staff accompanied the Minister.
The team visited Jawaharlal Navodaya Vidyalaya, Yaralpat, Imphal East, IIIT, Mantripukhri, COVID-19 Screening Centre at Oriental College, Tera, Imphal West and UNACCO School, Meitram.
