Today my heart is pleased and joyful undeterred by the woes of Covid-19 crisis, and hectic relief work I engaged in. The story I witnessed today was heartwarming and enlightening.
Let me briefly share the story.
A young man name Dapunii was returning from Delhi by train due to the current pandemic. He fell severely ill due to stomach ailment (not related to Covid-19) during the train journey and was in dire need of medical help. I was called upon by Dapunii's family member to help him and do the needful and bring him back home safely. His village is Koide Village in the Senapati district, which is around 80 kilometres away from the state capital, Imphal, and over 300 kilometres away from the Jiribam district, bordering Assam.
As I reached out, responding timely against the gravity of his illness, the patient was hospitalized in Jiribam accordingly. The humane care and treatment by the doctors and the medical team at the Silchar Medical Institute (SMI) was heroic and life-saving. Now, I am happy to say that a special ambulance was arranged and is on it's way to drop the patient's safely.
This was possible because of the quick and timely response from the beloved Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, the kind intervention by the railway minister Shri Piyush Goyal and the Railway Ministry personnel,
and the support of Chief Minister PRO, Sanachaoba, the enabling assistance and arrangement by the DC of Jiribam, Shri  W. Malemnganba Chenglei (IAS) and his team, the state's pro-active Covid-19 Team
The help and support by the Union Minister of State (MoS) Shri Rameshwar Teli, and Shri Manas Deka the OSD to Deputy Chief Minister, Arunachal Pradesh was crucial.
This beautiful story ended with a sigh of relief because of the financial assistance for transport from Imphal to Dapunii's home by Hiile Henry (Formerly ADC chairman, Senapati district) ADC member, and the help rendered by Shri Maivio Woba a renown social worker. Lastly, the care and concern for a man of its own by the President Koide Union Board (KUB) were truly appreciable and exemplary.
In my few years of public service as the Manipur BJYM State Secretary, today is one of the most satisfying experience.
I am rekindled with hope, humanity and true leadership even as we combat Covid-19.
