To peruse a father’s heart

Carving my way through to peruse his heart,
His heart, the place his deepest secrets rest
The place his joys and sorrows undress.
My first mumble ‘Pa-Pa’, his greatest joy in frame
‘I’ll not forever be papa’s little angel’, gloomier than his defame.
My first little steps, his first triumph to fatherhood
Yet tears up to see me blossoming womanhood
Battles against the sun and snow to furnish my needs and desires,
Yet frowned upon for coping less family time, oh he’s tired.

Carving my way through to peruse his heart,
His heart, the place his deepest secrets rest.
The place that holds reasons and promises to
Give me a meal even when he’s starving,
Give me warmth even when he’s shivering
Make me laugh even when he’s wailing,
Protect me even when he’s dying.

Carving my way through to peruse his heart,
His heart, the place his deepest secrets rest.
Concealed by a handsome arc of smile,
His heart, a hideaway of mysteries, forming an aisle.
And maybe, the entire ink in the world so senescent
Wouldn’t be enough to pen down his heart’s content.
