RS results trickle in

Voting was held today for 19 vacant Rajya Sabha seats in eight States. With counting on, results for the Rajya Sabha election are now trickling in. Results so far have come in for Madhya Pradesh (BJP 2, Congress 1), Rajasthan (Congress 2, BJP 1), Andhra Pradesh (YSRCP 4), Meghalaya (NPP 1), Mizoram (MNF 1), and Jharkhand (JMM 1, BJP 1).
Of the 19 seats where polling was held today, four each were in Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat, three in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, two in Jharkhand, and one each in Manipur, Mizoram and Meghalaya.
The JMM and the BJP have won one seat each in Jharkhand. JMM chief Shibu Soren and BJP State unit president Deepak Prakash have been declared winners.
The Mizo National Front has won the lone Rajya Sabha seat in Mizoram. MNF's K Vanlalvena has been declared the winner.
In Meghalaya, the National People's Party (NPP) has won the lone Rajya Sabha seat. NPP candidate Dr WR Kharlukhi has won the election.
The ruling YSR Congress party has won all four Rajya Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh. Meanwhile in Rajasthan, the Congress has won two of the State's three vacant seats while the BJP has won one.
BJP's Jyotiraditya Scindia and Sumer Singh Solanki and Congress veteran Digvijaya Singh were elected to Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh.          India Today
