A Morning Prayer in the COVID 19 Lockdown

The sound of the temple bell
Coming from a distance
The sparrows perching on the windowsill
Chirping - a wake up call...
A new day dawns
In the serenity of the " Covid 19 Lockdown"
A new beginning in life's journey
However life has turned a different direction
Somewhere, there's always someone sobbing
Loss of near and dear ones;
Despair, frustration and hunger;
Worry, panic and self destruction;
Some driven to the extremes -
All has become commonplace !
Why me...?
The elderly frail souls ask
Death - an inevitability awaiting us
And every step is a step nearer to the grave
Why nipped innocent souls before the time is ripe?
If Mother Nature is enraged
By arrogant humans, soiling her tranquil retreat,
Why punish the innocent souls instead of the devious culprits?
Noble souls, dedicated and committed ones!
What crime have they done?
Oh! Almighty God!
The giver of life and creator of death
Forgive your children, for any misdoing,
For, enough lessons are learnt
From past mistakes and experiences
Wiser are your children -
Let it be called a day
Forgiving is thy nature
Let the world be alive again with thy blessings
Let humans look into their inner self
And learn and live this moment called ' Life'
With mindful behaviour and in good spirits,
Let these dark days pass
And brighter days come.
